Everything you need to know about Julia: how the product works, the privacy of your recordings, plans and pricing, and how to export your book to publish it on Amazon KDP.
Julia is a web app that lets you write your own book by talking. Instead of typing, you dictate your ideas out loud — in any order, just as they come to you — and Julia transcribes every recording into text with artificial intelligence, organizes the material, and, when you ask, writes a complete, professionally formatted manuscript ready to publish.
It depends on how many ideas you dictated and how long your outline is, but it usually takes several minutes. It's a long process that runs in the cloud: you can close the app or keep using it while it generates, because progress is saved and you don't need to keep the screen open. We let you know when your manuscript is ready.
No. Julia is built for anyone who has a story to tell. You just talk: dictate your book's outline and your ideas, and artificial intelligence handles the writing and formatting. You can then review and polish the draft with a simple editor before exporting it.
Your recordings and their transcripts are yours and are stored encrypted in the cloud. Every file belongs exclusively to the account that created it and always travels over secure connections (HTTPS). We never sell or share your recordings, and we don't use them to train third-party AI models.
Only you. Access to your recordings, transcripts, cover, and exports is restricted to the account owner through security rules in both storage and the database. No one else — not other authors, not the public — can listen to your recordings. The Julia team only accesses specific data when you request support.
When you delete your account, all your books, recordings, transcripts, covers, and exports are deleted in cascade, from both the database and storage. It's a permanent action we confirm with you before executing, so you stay in full control of your data.
Julia offers a free 1-month trial with full access to create your book, no card needed to start. After that, choose a monthly plan: Basic at $29/month with 5 GB or Pro at $59/month with 15 GB. Every plan includes voice transcription, AI manuscript generation, and export to PDF and KDP.
You can cancel anytime from your subscription settings — no phone calls, no paperwork. You keep access through the end of the period you already paid for, and you won't be charged again. Your existing books and recordings are preserved and you can keep reading and exporting them; only creating new content is limited if you exceed your available space.
Because long recordings are what take up the most room. Instead of charging per feature, you pay for the space you actually use: dictate as much as you need and choose the plan that fits how much you want to write. We optimize audio quality so your recordings take up as little space as possible.

Julia exports your book as a PDF, ready to review or distribute, and as an Amazon KDP-compatible package for publishing. Both exports include the manuscript, the cover, and any sections you added (acknowledgments, dedication, prologue). Downloads work on mobile too.
Yes. The KDP export package meets Amazon KDP's manuscript formatting requirements and includes the required metadata such as the title and synopsis, plus the cover. You download the package from Julia and upload it to your KDP account to put your book on sale.
Yes. Before exporting you can upload a cover image and add standard sections like acknowledgments, a dedication, or a prologue, plus generate the synopsis with artificial intelligence. All of it is included in the PDF and the KDP package so your book is complete and ready to publish.
